Diagnostic imaging is relevant for clinical decision-making, treatment planning, and outcome assessment. We emphasize the technical aspects of the diverse methods, assuring images are free of artefacts, and reducing the radiation burden to the patient.

Our research lines aims to develop and evaluate diagnostic approaches and imaging technologies to improve the detection, understanding and management of conditions affecting the teeth, jaws and surrounding tissues. Our research connects technological advances with clinical needs, investigating how imaging can support treatment decisions and improve patient care.

A central focus is optimising established methods, including low-dose cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), and exploring new applications of dental-dedicated magnetic resonance imaging (ddMRI), which uses no ionising radiation. We investigate diagnostic accuracy, image quality and the clinical value of imaging, alongside patient experience and safety. Applications include third molar assessment, endodontic disease, implant treatment planning and monitoring tissue healing. Our goal is to establish evidence-based imaging strategies that provide clinically relevant information while minimising radiation exposure.

We bring together researchers, clinicians and early-career scientists with expertise in dentomaxillofacial radiology, endodontics and related areas of oral health. We are driven to engage and collaborate with national and international academic partners, community and hospital clinics, and industry. 

Together, we combine clinical expertise and technological development to translate research into better diagnostic practice.
