Data Visualisation Workshop: From Theoretical Foundations to Implementation and Communication

Do you work with complex datasets, would you like to make data-driven decisions and communicate your findings more effectively? Would you like to uncover patterns and relationships in your data while making your research more accessible to others? If yes, join us for a two-day workshop to explore the principles and practice of data visualisation. Combining theory with hands-on implementation, the workshop will equip you with practical tools to transform research data into clear, engaging and informative visualisations.

At this event, you will learn how to translate and communicate research data through visual design, apply data visualisation techniques to identify patterns, trends and outliers and use visualisation to support data-driven insights and decision-making – making it easier for you and other scientists to understand and learn from the data.

This workshop is offered jointly by the Danish Data Science Academy (DDSA), the Danish Cardiovascular Academy (DCA), The Danish Advanced Research Academy (DARA) and the Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy (DDEA).

In this two-day workshop you will:

  • Explore and learn principles and foundations of data visualisation
  • Analyse and improve your own visualisations
  • Work on a domain-specific task using a provided dataset
  • Engage in guided group work on a visualisation design – using pen and paper
  • Gain hands-on experience and participate in interactive presentations in Vega-Lite Refresher, Python or R
  • Implement and present your visualisations with peers

During the two days, you will also have the opportunity to network with fellow researchers, get to know the other course participants and network with them and the speakers through dinner and social activities.

We will announce a more detailed program in primo August.

Main instructor:
