The clinical dental technician treats patients who need dentures. The study programme only takes place in Aarhus and is an advanced study that builds on the clinical dental technician assistant programme which takes place at the Dental Technician School in Copenhagen. The programme focuses on clinical theory subjects, patient treatment and laboratory work.
The clinical dental technician must have a practical approach, an aesthetic sense and possess the ability to establish good contact with people.
A clinical dental technician can find employment at a clinical dental technicians or a dentist. After one year's employment, the clinical dental technician can gain authorisation to run his or her own clinic or become part of a joint clinic.
Patient treatment and working in the laboratory
As a clinical dental technician you treat patients who need dentures. If the patient still has some of his or her own teeth, you manufacture a partial denture. This is done in collaboration with a dentist, who takes care of any treatment of the patient's teeth, mucous membranes and jaw. If the patient does not have any teeth left, the clinical dental technician manufactures a full denture.
To be admitted to the study programme, you must have completed the clinical dental technician assistant programme.

Gennemført uddannelse til laboratorietandtekniker eller klinisk tandteknikerassistent. Udenlandske ansøgere skal inden studiestarten have bestået studieprøven i dansk.

The clinical dental technician degree programme takes 4½ years.
You must have completed the clinical dental technician assistant programme at the Dental Technician School in Copenhagen before you can apply to the 2-year clinical dental technician post-secondary training programme. The teaching requires you to be able to independently perform the technical stages involved in the manufacture of dentures.
The theoretical instruction provides the basis for you being able to examine patients, make treatment plans and perform the clinical and technical manufacture of the dentures.
